About Us
For 2024 the firm is supporting, for the first time as its charity of the year, an animal charity. We have raised money and given proceeds of our efforts to animal charities in the past but as one-off events. However this year and with the Bolton-based Destitute Animals Shelter celebrating its 100th year we have made good on the requests of many of our animal-loving staff. We look forward to supporting them in what will be a busy year and being involved in many activities.
For 2023 we have again decided to have one local charity as our Charity of the Year. It is Lagan's Foundation based in Bolton. They do wonderful work for families and children who have life changing conditions after birth, including breathing and heart defects. We look forward to trying to do as much as we can through the year to support them.
In 2022 the firm's Charitable Working Group has chosen to revert to supporting a single charity. There will be opportunities for other charities and events close to the firm's heart and those of its staff, but our efforts will principally be concentrated on Milly's Smiles. Milly's mother Lorraine told us about the work the charity undertakes and we believed that we could commit to supporting it and its provision of a Milly Bag to the many children and their families that are affect by cancer every year. Please see our Facebook and other social media pages to see what we get up to throughout the year.
For 2021 we decided, in celebration of our 150th year, to have a Year of Charities rather than one charity of the year. We hope and have done so far, to involve many charities and good causes in the Bolton and Manchester areas in our endeavours. You can find out about what we're up to on our 150 page and on the many social media platforms. Do support us when you have the chance!

2020 sees a new charity of the year for the firm - Breaking Barriers North West. Their aim is to raise awareness and challenge the barriers to inclusion in society for disabled children and young people aged 0-25 years old. As in previous years we have an exciting calendar of events planned for staff, clients and those with whom we do business to become involved. We are raffling a day's holiday and half a day's holiday in February and on Shrove Tuesday one of our partners will be donning chef attire and flipping a few pancakes. More details to follow through the year.

Endeavour
In mid 2018 the firm launched its Charity of the Year and the staff voted for Dementia UK. We were able to support the national charity through donations from our annual quiz in September, along with monthly contributions from our dress down days on the last Friday of each month.
For 2019 we have chosen Endeavour, a local charity that deals with domestic violence. You can donate via the firm's Just Giving page.
We aim to raise monies towards their project and have some fundraising events arranged ourselves.
In February 2019 we arranged a collection of pet food, treats and the like.
In March we collected Easter eggs to give to the clients/users of the service and in April we have one of our brave employees, Rob, bringing in his barber to do a head shave.
The following month we ran Moustache May for our male staff to show off their attempts at handlebars, curls or whatever they can muster in the 31 days. We also had 3 members of staff run the Manchester 10k. Approximately £500 was raised.
June saw our highly competitive Fieldings Porter Bake Off, where given our previous coffee mornings this continued to show a competitive edge as well as high quality. We raised £113 from staff and a few kind clients contributing.
In July we supported Endeavour’s annual walk up Holcombe Moor in memory of the murder of Ellen Strange in 1761.
After a month off in August we had our annual quiz in September as over 100 people and 20 teams competed for the trophy. It was another great success and the final count saw over £400 raised
October saw brave staff willing to undergo leg waxing. Over £350 was raised. See what 4 of our male staff went through here!
In November we will be collecting in Advent calendars to pass on to users and 14th December will see our first Fieldings Porter Annual Charity Christmas Carol Concert with guests Corus Brass at the Bolton Parish Church along with our Christmas Jumper Day the day before.
We will continue with our dress down Friday on the last Friday of the month when staff will donate a few pounds to dress down.
The grand total raised and donated in 2019 was £4,500.
Please do support us by making a donation.
